    HD/TC/ABS Lights Coming On

    Hi Andy,
How's it going in the South? Mud & Beach Sand..Sounds like you have been on holidays. Is it intermittant or Solid fault? Maybe if you check the connectors, clean with contact cleaner you may be OK. Also hoping for an easy fix it may just be a flaky sensor or brake pads.

Unfortunately with mine it was the ABS Modulator. Stevo posted a thread about the shuttle valve resistors had water getting onto the borad which was fixed by replacing them with the kit.

He also posted a thread where they repaired the circuit board inside the modulator as the pins that connect the shuttle valve switches via the circuit board are only pressed into the board and not soldered.

He is the person to ask the question.

There are many variables for this senario but a lot of them come back to something amiss in the modulator. Have a look at these threads.

    shuttle valve switch has arrived

    another abs modulator fault found

    Shuttle valve

I hope it is an easy, low cost one for you.

There are many causes for the lights staying on and if the lights are staying on even when you have turned the ignition off then back on means the fault is still there unless it thinks it is a shuttle valve fault which might only show up once for a couple of milli seconds then be fine but computer logs the fault and the lights stay on till reset by dealer.

Hopefully with the mud and stuff connections just need cleaning also in one of those links there is a procedure on fault finding the modulator Don't believe them when they say replace modulator.

When I got them it ended up being the shuttle valve switch. Got the switch fixed and all's been well.

Every time I have had them it has been mud on the sensors

Cleaning them fixes the problem, it doesn't clear the fault though

Washed, blew out with air whilst on the hoist, sprayed de-greaser in,blew out again and again, cleaned the 4 sensor connections still all the same.
I need to plug into a computer to find the fault Im afraid!!!!
Front right had heaps of crud in there, the other 3 were pretty good,Im guessing this is the sensor with the problem,if it is a wheel sensor.

Just came bak from picking the boy up from the pool, gave the ABS a workout in the gravel carpark. All is definateley working well so hopefully it is just a wheel sensor.

    What if there's no dealers!!

I'm a long-time Landy owner (Ser111) and a geologist in the northwest who really does get to do Boys' Own things with my Landy. The Bride convinced me that a Discovery would be more comfortable for her, so I acquiesced. Now I've got the Three Amigos!

The Karratha Landy dealer/workshop has just shut his doors -

Am I able to hitch a laptop loaded with appropriate software (if so, where do I get it) to clear this fault?

In my case, it's probably dust on the sensors or ther strings mention the fault initiating when the brake is touched lightly, possibly inducing a short.

    Any other advice?

Yes you can BUY a package that will let you clear the faults,,, win lotto first though--

Get stuck into your WA crowd,, they'll let you know the best/closest dealer to go to.

The sensors themselves are relatively easy to pull,, a quick brake test will show if one wheel is locking, or ,
    and take care here--
    jack each wheel in turn,
    take handbrake off
    take it out of difflock
    select first,
    release clutch slowly
    see if the speedo moves---

I found the wheel that locked was the same wheel that didnt activate the speedo,,
I fairly happy its the sensor thats stuffed.

but,, yours could be any number of things--
