Depending on what tyres go onto the 16" rims, you may be able to have the steering stops adjusted to improve the turning circle.

I had exactly the same issue, and some of the lads were fed up with pulling me out of the muddy stuff with the standard tyres.

I bought a 2nd hand set of 16" rims - they came off a P38 (same fitting as the D2) - not bad condition and reasonable $500 for 4

I then found that the BFG AT 235/70 R16 was just a 1/4" difference in dia from the original 18" tyre/rim combination.

I have no issues with steering stops rubbing or anything.

Initially I was going to use the BFG's as a spare set and just use them for 'playing' as I thought - given the agressive tread pattern I thought they may be 'noisey' on the tarmac.

............but no, they are superb, and my single forray off road down/up a steep rocky/muddy track towing a camper trailer proved their off road ability as well.

I can add some pics if you like.

Can I do the same for my 02 Disco2 -facelift version?

Note that there are 16x7" rims which are fairly common, and also 16x8 rims. The Ranger Rover P38a rims are also exactly the same specifications as the Disco2 rims and are 100% interchangable. No doubt somebody will buy or swap for the 18" rims also if you don't want to use them.

General Grabber do sell an AT tyre that suits the 18" rim, and there are more options again if you are happy to change tyre sizes <enter legal implications crowd>.

The rotor size is the same for all D2's,,,
so all D2 rims are interchangable.
