    Front Springs - Defender

    Is there any generally any difference between front and rear springs ? eg are they the same diameter, height etc, or not ?

    I ask because I replaced the rear King springs in my ute with some progressives, which are a tad better (softer) than the Kings, and now I want to replace the fronts as well.

    I reckon, having done the rears, that the front should be pretty easy too.
    Presumably remove the shock towers and shocks in one hit then jack the car and do the springa ?

    Defender fronts are smaller diameter than the rears and dead easy to change. I did mine a few weeks ago and replaced them with +2" fronts and left the rears alone and the truck now sits level
    If you put chassis stands under the front and remove the wheels and shocks you can drop the front diff down and replace the lot in under an hour

    Dont touch the shock towers, just remove the black plastic covers in the engine bay and spin the shock top nuts off with a rattle gun

    Sorry you lost me. Why would you not touch the towers ? Don;t you need to remove them to remove the shcoks to change the springs. (Or does your first post explain that).

    Oh, and I don;t have a rattle gun

    If you undo the top nut and compress the shock, it'll then let you drop the axle enough to get the spring out without having to fanny around with the tower.

    Will this also allow me to change the shock bushes or will I need to remove the tower for that ?

    Only if you can undo the top shock mounts. Sometimes they are a pita and you have to pull the towers so you can hold the shock to prevent it from rotating.
