Ok, so it did in the end, but I don't know why it didn't first time!
Stopped car after brief "giving it to it" high speed run to test for vibration on tailshaft. Foot seemed to get stuck to floor on couple of km clear straight type of run. After that about 10km normal sedate 100kmph driving. Stopped car, about 20 mins later went to start again. Engine started normaly, maybe 2-3secs max, then stopped dead, no coughing. Starter would crank but no joy. Checked a fuse under dash (#2 from memory) with a fuel bowser symbol, it was fine. Not even sure what its for - maybe the flap unlock? - was hoping it was for the pump. Tried to start again and imediate kick over.
Fuel pump replaced 10000km ago, should be fine.
Leaking regulator replaced about 40000 ago.
Can't say I heard pump running when i checked it when car stopped but its v quiet and the servo was noisy where I'd parked; it may well have been.
Also, when engine stopped it was not like when I had a failed pump before, no coughing just an immediate stop, and absolutely no sign of life during starting attemps until it started perfectly again.
Tried locking and unlocking car too, during attempts to start. I don't think it would be the immobiliser or it would not have cranked at all, and the horn did not beep.
Guess it would not be the auto selector position as that would stop cranking too?
Worried.
Any ideas? Similar experiences?
Times like these I wish it was petrol so it would burn better
Dave
PS as I got out of the car, the weld retaining the door postion retaining mechanism-to-body "attachment bracket" snapped off and door now flops around.. IT'S CURSED!!!
