    discovery ignition timings

    Dear Luke,
We would like you to do something for us Luke, pop needs to know a technical detail about our car, he has replaced the cylinder head gskets and it's running ok except for occassional backfiring, and he thinks he might have something not quite right with the spark leads. We can't find a book on it anywhere, we've looked in the libraries so has Immy, and to buy a book would be $50 but we can't even find one anyway, not that we want to pay that. So if I give you the details perhaps you can find the book or the section we need on internet and tell us how to access it and pop can find what he wants, or just the area he's interested in.

IT'S A 1993 DISCOVERY STATION WAGON WITH 8 CYLINDERS 3 AND 1/2 LITRES. IT WILL BE IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM, IN THE AREA OF THE TIMING, AND HE NEEDS TO KNOW THE CORRECT FIRING ORDER, HE THINKS HE MAY HAVE IT OUT ONE (WHATEVER). DO YOU THINK YOU WILL HAVE TIME TO HUNT THIS DOWN FOR US? THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT MODELS YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE. WE HAVE TO COME UP ABOUT 11 FEB TO BABY SIT FOR IMMY AND DAVID, THEY ARE GOING TO MELBOURNE FOR AARONS WEDDING. WE WANT TO GET IT RIGHT BEFORE THEN IF WE CAN. HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU, THANKYOU, LOTS OF LOVE FROM POP AND NANNA XXOO

Im not a machanic but my pop is, anyone have a clue where to find this info, or a place to find a book on it?

    thanks for your help.

Hi Luke, this is from pop about the car, I followed the timing sequence and adjusted the distributor to the mark on the distributor (10deg.) and it goes well, two plug wires were crossed, thanks a million. love pop and nan
