There are few things more ridiculous on this earth than an aussie trying to imitate a kiwi accent.

One of the only things more ridiculous than an aussie trying to imitate a kiwi accent. Is an aussie who thinks he's funny doing it.

OK - since this is the best AC tech thread on AULRO, anyone want to help design the ideal 110 AC system???

I had to pull my county heater/AC to install the turbo... (there was only 10mm or so in it in the end.). I could probably modify it and refit, but I think it would be easy to design and build something much better...

e.g. a ducted vent system mounted to the inside of the roof, just behind the driver...

Ideally the best type is to use a 24,000 btu mini bus evaporator, mounted at high level - either just behind the driver, or above the back door, these are available on order from Repco who are now part of the OEX/Ingram group.

Using the same compressor / condenser you can extend the pipework using the refrigerant quality rubber hose and bring them up in the door pillar or rear quarter, you condensate drain can also follow this route.

It will mean either cutting the floor to get the pipes up, or if running through the firewall you will need to encase the horizontal runs in some trunking, but it can be done quite neatly.

I have a few pictures of the evaporators, some come with remote control, others are on a fly lead.

I would be back from O/seas till aug 3, but if you want the pics I can post them up then.

Any questions please feel free to pm me

Thanks Ladas - great info. Sounds like the go. That was pretty much exactly what I was planning to do - just didn't know about the off-the-shelf evap units. Some pics or part numbers would be great if you have them! (when you get back from OS of course)

As space under the bonnet is tight for a 2nd AC compressor (need one for OBA), I have been toying with the idea of driving the AC comp off the back of the t-case...
