V8 D2 wont start in front of certain shop!!

I have been quietly enjoying our D2, scratching it and fanging down bush tracks and the beach, but lately when the mrs parks it in front of the butchers it wont start or gives trouble starting.

The other day the keypad wouldn't lock the car, so she locked it with the key.....then when she tried to open it the alarm kept going off.
A call to the LR dealer and entering the unlock code with the key in the lock sorted it out finally.

Today it just wouldnt start...all the warning lights would come on....but no joy.
After several attempts it finally started.

I have heard of the TD5 D2's doing a similar thing due to electrical interference, but not of the V8's.

Has anyone had similar problems ????

Yes, mine had a problem once in front of the Amcal chemist. I think it is something to do with the frequencey of something in the shop being the same as the frequency of the D2 key. (might have that totally wrong but it was something similar). Had to get the car towed 50m down the road then everything was fine.

It's usually a chemist close buy with a scanner when paying for stuff. Does the butcher or other shops close by have a scanner.

All engined early D2s can have alarm problems in close proximity to barcode scanners.

Electrically "noisy" areas and high voltage power lines crossing each other can also upset the D2 alarm/locking system.

Some time during the D2 production run, the alarm frequency was changed, which "supposedly" fixed the problem.

I overcame the potential for stuffups on my wifes d2 V8 by putting the body computer into transit mode.

    For details: see thread

Simple, maybe your LR is a vegetarian

Seriously, it has to be an electrical interference.
    Any strange towers, etc, nearby?

I've heard Deafener owners don't do shopping, but that could be a load of ballcocks.

Two weeks ago, whilst at the local Butcher Shop in our Disco, there was a SWB Defer in the car park, old guy in it with a very long beard and a large dog in the back of the vehicle.

Yes he was shopping, for himself and dog
