Question How to bleed a TDi300 Fuel System

    Ok

After having purchased this, E-bay Purchase

landrover defender long ranger fuel tank - eBay, Air, Fuel, Water Accessories, Car Accessories, Tuning, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 18-Jan-08 09:53:33 AEDST)

I'm about to fit it. I havn't read the RAVE CD yet but some of the resident experts here will tell me the correct way to do it and the RAVE CD will tell me something else.

I've had a good look and it looks like its as simple as removing the towbar, dropping the old one out, bolting the new one in, reconnecting the new one and re priming.

Anything I should lookl out for?

    thanks in advance

Yeah, you need lots of patience. The hard/ difficult bit is getting the filler neck past the chassis rail, you have to tilt the tank slightly and the LR tank being deep in section makes this a bit of a struggle when doing it on the ground Buy yourself a hoist first
You need a second pair of hands for this job, IE time to rope in the volunteers. (Silence reigns.)
Bleeding isn't an issue with the Tdi, just start 'er up and let er rip. These will bleed themselves easily.
Good luck A and I'm for once glad I'm NOT in sunny QLD.
(Just kidding, a few ales and a fuel tank fitting party is just what I need)

This shouldn't be a problem with a cab/chassis, or is it more about getting the tank up on an angle? Shame u havn't re located yet JC

I did my Disco on my own, but mines a Brown Davis Wing tank and I just lifted it with the trolley jack and bolted it up and reconnected everything.

Bleeding is a non event, they bleed them selves as Justin said

Nothing better than having 135ltrs in 1 tank

I used a trolley jack when I did mine. Took 3 people though: 1 on the jack and to to move the tank into position.

It pays to manually pump the fuel forward (lever on the fuel pump) but it takes a bit. As said self bleeding

Just the angle bit A, it is a tight fit due to its depth. The lh lower side of the chassis and the filler neck on the RH chassis get real cosy when fitting it back up in there. THEN you have to locate the bolts, rubber mounts and nuts/ washers WHILE the tank is in place. I hope you are good at bench pressing

As I said, easy on a hoist where you can Stand under it.(And no comments from you about me being ABLE to stand under a Cab chassis Adrian!!)

Ive always found when working on the tanks that are rear mounted that you get more than enough clearance if you reverse up onto a pair of vehicle ramps so that its nose down as much as you can get it.
