    Pneumatics

Who works in the hydraulic/pneumatic field here?

I *cough* borrowed *cough* some 4/5 port solenoid valves from work, SMC VZ3140 with the intentions of elec/vacuum my my maxidrives, these baby's should be perfect, problem is sourcing 12V coils, they came with 240V, when I priced the coils........126 beer tickets each, the whole assembly is only 174, I'm just wondering if their is someone who gets a decent price from a wholesaler here, Thanks

I have 2 coils in the shed that were meant to be faulty and we went through and changed them all and found it was another electrical problem that was the problem (thanks Textron).

They are 5/8" core 2" long Hydraforce 12v, and are yours if you want them as they are no use to me anymore as on the later machines they have changed to a different type of coil which isnt interchangable.

The only issue you may have is the run a 7ohm ballast which without a control system may cause heat build up in the coil but it depends on how long you will have them on for at any 1 time.

I used vacuum control solenoids from pollution control systems on late model engines. Some are low voltage controls 5V, 8V etc but of the dozen or so I had I found 4 that ran my air vent vacuum controls for years. Dont see why they wouldn't work on your maxi controls, and they are small.

They're vac on and vac off, so would need to use 8 purge valves, bit to messy for my liking, as they don't have housings etc, but a very good idea nonetheless

I was figuring as much and coils are usually pretty valve specific

    Hi Matt
Do you have a Hardi Boomspray dealer around?????
They look like the solenoids that control the boom lift/fold on the 12v hydraulic systems on the tow behind boomsprays.
When I was a farm worker the Hardi boomspray we had constantly "used" these solonoids, was put down to poor sealing from chemical ingress.Regular spraying with a can of silicone spray prolonged their life considerably.

why not try a pinball supplier... last time I was rebuilding a pinball machine all the internals worked on 12v.

have you tried the valve on vacuum?

You might have to hook the vac to ports 4 an 5 (exhaust) if the solenoid just controls the pilot pressure on the ends of the spool (normal mechanism)

Just guesstimating, never used one with vacuum before
