Electronics in the vehicle engine
After reading so much about the possible problems with electronics I started to arrive to the conclusion that the problem is not the electronics but the luck of knowledge or information that have the independent mechanics to perform the repairs.
Are the software and diagnostic equipment ready available for independent mechanics at a reasonable cost and not at 4 5000 plus?

If not available, should it be compulsory to release the information once that the model have been superseded by the manufacturers if they cannot service the vehicle in a remote town?
Sooner or later conservative people like me will have to bite the bullet and get one vehicle (regardless of the type) which is going to be equip with electronics.
Even the mighty Unimog has electronics for a few years now (admittedly the after sales service for the Unimog is one of the best in the world)
I am looking forward for your inputs.

Diagnostic systems are readily available – you can buy it yourself.
Blackbox Solutions Ltd - Designers and manufacturers of the best vehicle diagnostic tools.
I have actually found that the independent “Land Rover specialist” has better knowledge certainly in BNE – The (only) LR dealer was incapable of fixing my TD5 they don’t have any idea what they were dealing with – just following a book - going through the motions (can’t find your problem, sir). They do know how to use the cash register.
