    Cargo Barrier

I find as the kids get bigger they are starting to winge about the cargo barrier. Has anyone tried to reposition it further back in a Defender 110, like 100 or 150mm?

Also has anyone tried fitting different rear seats? There are plenty of threads on front seats. I have seen the British ones but they look dear. Years ago I saw a 110 with Recaro seats in the front and the original front seats in the back.

I fitted after-market buckets in the front and a bloke in the Land Rover Club of Victoria bought the originals to put into the back for his two daughters. Apparently a very neat job. Even put a custom-made console between the seats (I also sold him the console)

Don't muck around with the cargo barrier - it just may save your children's lives. I speak from experience.

Send me a PM and if it is OK with the bloke who bought my seats I will give you his details.

When i installed my millford brand cargo barrier, i put it way further back than the 110 i removed it from. All the brackets have reinforcing plates behind them, which you have to move aswell. Just be careful of the ribs in the floor, as you want these plates to end up between them not on them. Apart from that, its straight foward drilling holes, Oh and its a 2 person job to hold the reinforcing plates in unless you have really long arms.

My father moved the rear seat 4 inches rearward in his old 110, which needed a custom bracket for the lower hinge, and the striker repositioned. the wheel arch also needed notching and plating to suit.

I'm not a fan of rear seats in the back, they block the view too much.

The fitting kit has wire supports that hold the plate while you secure it, easy one man job. 1.5 - 2hours max from start to finish
