Psst, make that 2 unless you already meant mine

Yep P38a in the rear. Installed the maxidrive when the car was new in early 2004. I did twist one, replaced that about 18 mths ago. I just paid for it, didn't try on a warranty claim. They aren't that dear. Otherwise I don't recall any axle trouble at all.

And the P38a is a full floater.

The Maxidrive stuff in the front is nearer to 10 years old, swapped over from my old Disco. No front diff or axle issues. Apart from wearing out the CW&P with about 400,000 kms between the two cars.

    cheers,

what size and type of tyres do you run?

what ratios of changes have you made?

    cheers, serg

No. Ralph - formerly from LROCB twisted a rear (he lives on a remote Island and doesn't do internet) on a S1/RR hybrid with a 4.4V8 and 33's. Glen (used to be on the forums as V8Grunt) snapped an old rear with a 4.7 centre!!! I think he only had a holden 6 at that stage - the ford V8 came later.

Did you twist one or snap one? Front or rear?

Best I have managed was a 24-spline non genuine rear - and countless 10-spliners.

Cheers Michele - that is an important point - KAM - not MD! I think more people would have snapped KAM than MD, look at the poor finish quality on the KAM shafts.

I notice the super $$$ Maraging shafts are hardly waisted!!!

    G'day (?) mate,
of course you get what you pay for

A couple of Qs referring to your old material list:
-with yeld strenght did you generally mean torsional strenght?
As I was trying to find the Italian term but got lost in several different meanings and I don't have a technical dictionary...not yet!
-can you confirm EN26(?) for the JacMac axles?

    [OT]When's your flight exactly?[/OT]

Yield strength is the engineering term for the point where the material starts to plastically (permanently) deform.

If it helps, it is Fließfestigkeit in German!

Yield strength is generally measured as tensile (stretching) stress. Twisting (torsional stress) is equivalent to shear force - about 2/3 of the tensile value...

    Clear as mud???

Not sure what Jacmac shafts are made of.

Flight is in about 36 hrs - don't think I will be gettingf much sleep between then and now.
