What Fuel pump can i use??

    Hi Guys and Girls...

Sorry if this is answered somewhere else, but i am sick of looking....

    I have a 1989 Range Rover 3.5L EFI Vogue.

my Fuel pump has Died... so needs replacing...

Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative than the genuine that will work??

It a intank pump if that helps...

any technical tricks anyone knows would be greatly appreciated too! we're gunna fit it ourselves... when we get the part.

    Many thanks in advance.

    - depending whether or not your RR has an inspection hole in the rear floor like a disco, you can either use an external like LRH or an internal like DW. ( DW chimes in on the 2nd and 3rd pages)

If you have trouble finding one, pretty sure that there's still one out in my shed. I replaced one in a VN V8 wagon a while back and it turned out there was nothing wrong with the original. Fault was eventually traced to wiring under the rear site - when there was a passenger on the driver's side, the extra weight pushed the seat frame down onto the wiring and eventually there was wear through the insulation - seat frame would contact the wire and fuse would blow. Took ages to track down.
    Cheers .........

Thanks guys... The VN-VR pump worked a treat.. well it went in with no mods etc... well actually we think it has been changed before and a mod may have been done as it looks different to the picture in the manual.... Only problem is.. it wasn't the fuel pump that was causing the problem.. so i have spent $$ on something that wasnt broken

its the power thats the issue.

We have re routed the power and the pump is working... but the car Still won't start!

stupid thing is.. when we were testing the pump power.. i started the car (without fuel attached... ) now with tank reinstalled. won't start!

    any further ideas??

I'd be looking for fuel blockages - when was the filter last replaced?

are you sure that you are getting power to the pump when you are trying to start the car?

we've now checked the fuel filter... no blockage...
at the plenum.. fuel comes out up near the starter injector (?? i think thats whats it's called- on the side of the plenumn)

she's starting.. only going for a few seconds,.. then dies..

i'm throwing my hands in the air with this one.. and we're getting her towed in the morning to a mechanic.. hopefully won't cost too much
