    Someone with nanocom or interface

    Hi there,

I noted a few day's ago I had a "sport" "manual" Fault" earlier this year.
It's Back and I have found that when I reset it and apply the brake and shift it to reverse it comes back within a few seconds. ( shift to reverse, couple of seconds pause, "R" flashes, then is gone).
When I put it in drive, apply bake and a bit of throttle (pulsing softly) I can get it as well.

I would like to know if someone in Melbourne's eastern suburbs or around has an interface that If I turned up they may see what the fault code is.

I dont have an interface, but if your anywhere near boronia/ferntree gully drop in and see Glenn at Roverland on Dorset Road. He is an excellent land rover mechanic and he doesnt charge (like other mechanics and dealers) to check and clear codes. He only really does this for his regular clients of which I am unfortunately regular (read - I have spent lots of money there! )

    Cheers

    Thanks Angus,

I will call and find out if it is possible to drop in one day.

I don't spose you know if the auto has some sort of pressure switch or pressure feed back to the Automatioc electronic unit?

I had been going along the lines of it being an electrical problem, but since finding the problem comes back when shifting into gear (especially reverse) I'm thinking there must be another reason.

    Cheers and thanks

Not sure about the pressure switch etc. I run a manual and as such arent familiar with the intricacies of the ZF auto.

I would however check your battery. When I was in Tassie last year my Brother in laws D2 (auto) started to flash the sports and manual fault lights. After a bit of calling around (thanks Sniegy from MLR) we diagnosed it as curiously a stuffed starter battery. The alternator was fine, its just that the battery had had it! Drove into Launceston, got it replaced and everything was fine. Apparently the flashing is an warning of low battery strength...?

So might be worth while to grab a volt metre and check the voltage of the battery or take it into somehwhere like Piranha Offroad (also Dorset Road but in Bayswater) and get them to check it. They can also chuck in a replacement for you at a good price.

    Cheers

    Thanks Angus,

Yes, I had checked the battery voltage and it was fine, I down loaded the Technical Manual the other night and have found a few interesting things.
I have since checked the wiring from the Auto switch on the transmission to the EAT (electronic automatic transmission) and the BCU (body control unit).

All checks out, I have checked the resistance of the transmission solenoids and found that 3 are in the range of 27 ohms to 33 ohms (solenoid MV1 - MV3) But MV4 (pressure regulator solenoid valve) was measuring 6 Ohms, If this solenoid is cactus then I may be on to something. The Fault code in the Manual mentions that if a solenoid is open circuit or short cct it will fault out.

So now I am trying to confirm what the resistance the solenoid should be, if you know or if anyone else can confirm it I would be greatful.

Not sure the nanocom gets into the auto ECU,you may have to see somebody with a more expensive setup.

sorry for the late reply Angus, I'm finding it hard to find any info on what the resistance of the solenoid valves should be, MV1 26.8ohms, MV2 27ohms, MV3 32ohms and MV4 6.5 ohms.

MV4 sticks out but it is a valve that I believe opperates proportionally dependant on how the vehical drives. I'm in the process of checking the cables and I think I may be getting close, I will hopefully have a bit of information if successful.
