    Range Rover Won't start!

Hi Guys.... this is a continuation from the Fuel pump issue....

Issue was.. car was intermittently stalling last couple of months.. so assumed the pump was going... didn't have the $$ to replace it, so let it go...

on wednesday when leaving work, she Died in the ****. Thought.. here we go again, so tried to restart her as per usual.. and she wouldn't start.

Road service came.. gave the Fuel tank a good smack with the technical tool called the Hammer... and she wouldnt start, but was alittle promissing. and the decission was that the fuel pupm was stuffed, so got her towed home.

went a bought a VN-VR pump which worked a treat.. well it went in with no mods etc... Only problem is.. it's not the fuel pump that was causing the problem.. so i have spent $$ on something that wasnt broken

we changed the pumps hooked it up.. then realised there's no power in the wiring.. have checked the fuses, the relay under the seat. they seem fine? we're not 100% to how to check them (we did change it with another of the same amps etc... ) still wouldnt work..

We have re routed the power and the pump is working... but the car Still won't start!

stupid thing is.. when we were testing the pump power.. i started the car (without fuel attached... ) now with tank reinstalled. won't start!

    any further ideas??

have we missed something?? HELP PLEASE!

have you checked the tank earth for the pump and the wiring for the pump in particular the connections on both sides of the pump/sender body?

    G`day Landychik ,

Could be alot of things but ...

Probably a good place to start would be to see if you have spark at the plugs .

If none see if there`s spark at the dissy .

Because it`s been an ongoing problem it could be the module on the side of the dissy , when they are on there last legs they will cause intermittant faults . Not starting and/or stopping for no apparent reason .

Something as simple as the rotor arm , inside the dissy can do similar .

EFI system is generally fairly reliable .

When looking for current at the pump remember it is only there for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on , and then the current is only there when cranking and also when it starts . It can`t be found at any other times .

Another thing to be aware of with EFI is that a battery that on it last legs can seem to be cranking the engine over fast enough but there may not be sufficent current for the ignition/injection systems .

    Cheers
