Thread: Speaker inside Instrument Cluster

A technician came to install our satelite tracking device in the new Fender at our home yesterday.

After he left, when I turned on the ignition to start there was a ticking sound coming from behind the instrument cluster. Even with the engine running there was a constant regular tick almost like an indicator relay only quieter.
The noise only dissapears about 10 seconds after the engine is shut off and the immobiliser kicks in.
I called the Sat. company back and they came this morning to disconect the tracker device and see what happened. Still there - bugger.

Called the guys from Landrover Assist who came out while the Sat techi was still there and between them they found the small speaker behind the cluster seems to be getting a pulse from somewhere. Needless to say, Laurel and Hardy sat scratching their heads in utter amazement and both had "never seen that happen before".
They both left and Landrover said they would read through the wiring diagram at the workshop and fiddle around with one of their demo units to see what they could find.
In the mean time I also noticed the radio sometimes gives a few pops and crackles on the speakers while driving and the radio "mode" button doesn't seem to work. Not sure if it worked from the start as this was the first time I pressed it.
Bugger and damn - now have to go back to the steelers for them to fiddle again.

Things are such that all insurance companies insist on the satelite tracking and refuse to insure if no tracker.
Now I also noted the hazards are operating the trailer light in the dash.
