    Recovery Point

Hi there, I have just joined AULRO after purchasing a MY03 Defender - this is fitted with a standard Landrover bull bar. Looking underneath there are no recovery points. Can anyone help with options here? I'm sure this can't be a new topic. At this stage I don't want to replace the bar. Are the standard Landrover bars strong enough to take a shackle mounting bracket with a backing plate? Are Jate rings an option? Any help would be appreciated, many thanks regards

I think you mean reCovery points

Get in touch with Len at Troutbeck Sales & Services and get a couple of his recovery points. They bolt on to the chasis using existing bolts.

    Howdy,

Yuu can also try Simon at 4x4 Intelligence. They come with high tensile bolts which is handy. I have ordered a pair for my 01 TD5 Disco.
questions@4x4intelligence.com.au I hope I have attached his price list properly. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...1&d=1204600615

When purchasing a "recovery Point" that is not a hook, make sure that the shackle pin hole is in the Vertial axis, this way the body of the recovery point will not put sideways pressure on the shackle pin if the line of pull is not directly ahead.
With the shackle pin upright it allows the shackle to swing side to side without trying to pull the shackle apart in the case of the shacle pin being horizontal, Regards Frank. BTW Welcome to the Forum.

You could try a pair of these. Include an 8-10mm plate underneath for the 3 bolts to share the load and you're home and hosed.

    Cheers

These are mine. Most people dont like this setup, but this was what I was advised to do at a 4wd shop. Ive added backing plates to mine now though.

I have one of these on the rear cross member now.

excellent idea actually, quite a strong place to put them as there is not much leverage between there and the bullbar fixings and it is a pretty straight pull in reality.
