Heya Old Turkey,
There is also Team Green Autogas in Brisbane.
I was impressed with them, great customer service to date,
but now that the landy tdi has over heated the money
is getting gobbled up and I can no longer afford the
switch to gas.
I am considering fitting an LPG kit.
1/There are 2 Aussie manufacturers (at least) of power enhancing LPG systems, using 25-30% LPG. Diesel Gas Australia, based near Adelaide, and D-gas (Eco-gas) based in Perth.
Does anyone have any opinions as to which system is best ?
2/There are other kits available from Korea and Argentina which use 75-80% gas, offering greater fuel cost savings, but without much power enhancement. Some people tell me that this can cause very high combustion temperatures, and possible engine damage. Any ideas / opinions?
3/My Toyo 1KZ turbo has no intercooler, and I am also looking at vapour intercooling using water / methanol injection, Snow Performance: Home.
This is claimed to be especially beneficial at high ambient temperatures. Has anyone got any experience of this?
Regards,
Joe

With the cost of gas this week its probably not gonna be long before there is NO cost saving.
As I understand it, you'll pay around $3,000 ON TOP OF the currently available government rebate/contribution.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Where are you located?
Also Diesel Gas Technologies in Sydney. They used to install Diesel Gas Australia gear but now have their own system. See DieselGas Technologies - LPG injection system for diesel engines...
Also there is Hunter Gas Technologies in Dungog (NSW)
I think the D-Gas system is not computer controlled and that would worry me but I am happy to be corrected on this. Why install a mechanical system on a modern hi-tech engine? I'd want the monitoring provided by an electronic system.

Yeah maybe so, I was quoted $5000 + $500 GST = $5500.
Then with the rebate $2k = $3500!
The government is the only one profiting from this rebate.
By the time gas does go up to recoupe the rebate monies
it will prob be the same price as diesel! (Just like diesel was
when it first came out - cheap now $$$$)
Exy but will it be worth it in the long run?
Depends how long but unless you do enoiugh driving to make it pay for itself over the next 4 years, 10 months then no it's not worth it.

I would get it if I could afford the $$$$
The extra power when towing the camper is definitely the selling point for me.. not worried so much about cost saving - I'm going to be using fuel no matter what I do...
Also since I don't look at ever getting rid of her then there's no point trying to depreciate the savings etc.
Diesel Gas = Good for engine, good for economy and good for power.........Im told.
I cant afford it but would like to.
I would look at fitting a water to air intercooler first and see how the power and economy changes before throwing money at LPG unless your planning on some very long trips where LPG is readily available.
I also wouldnt go over 20 to 25% as much more does reduce power and increase engine wear.....agein Ive been told but havnt seen it for my self.
