Does it go?'95/3.9 disco into '91/disco

    3.9/'95 conversion
    Nov '91 Discovery. On LPG
    3.5ltr motor and manual gearbox.
It runs ok but "sometimes" blows some blue smoke.
It also runs a bit hot.The clutch fan doesn't blow as hard as it should.
Theres no air conditioning. I was told that it hasn't blown a head gasket.
    What has it blown?
What must i look out for when i'm putting '95/'96 3.9 into her.
Is it possible? Is it lots of trouble. Do i have to change computers.
As can anyone suggest a land rover mechanic in the Bacchus Marsh/Ballarat/Melb. Victoria.

If you are having a mechanic do it, and he uses the bits from the old engine, such as the timing case, v belt front, etc, they are exactly alike.

All rover V8 short engines are backwards compatable.
If you want to use the complete long 3.9 , there will be a lot of fiddling with different aircon comperessor fittings, hoses to radiator, pulleys etc., as the 95 will have a serpentine belt on the front.
Seeing it is a 3.5 Disco, which has the 14CUX ECU, the injection wiring etc should be just plug and play, however you probably will need a 3.9 ECU. It will probably run OK with the 3.5 ECU, but there conceivably is a danger it could lean out at high revs.
Knowing Land Rover this may not be the case however, although I have a 90% plus confidence level that it is.

    Thanks Phillip,
I'm not frightened to have a go, ..as of this time i'll find a mechanic
and let him do the hard yards.
We'll change the ecu to the 3.9
and while i'm there i'll upgrade a few things.
