    Next installment of the mystery!

    Guys,

Somehow (and it wasn't me), the gauge seems to be back to 'normal' (is that possible with a Land Rover - rhetorical question I know). However.......

I have now noticed that the electric fan on the front of the radiator stays on. Not all the time, just when the engine is running.... I don't know what this fan is for, as it is not on the RAVE CD. The only reference I can find, is that it might be for the AC and goes on at 28 degrees and goes off again at 25 degrees (outside temp).......

Any ideas of how to check why it is being switched on?

I am going to disconnect the battery for 10 mins or so, to reset all the mem's etc....

Let you know if it helps.

Seems like there's a temp sender wire that's loose and the ecu has gone into protective mode and runs the fan all the time. There will be a fault code for the temp sender that has to be cleared and then the fan will stop running.

had the same thing happen to my D2.

In the front of the engine under the engine cover there are two wires coming from the temp sensor(i think). One of these wires had worn thru and was earthing on the housing. From memory I had to take off the cover to see where the wires were rubbing but you can see the wires on the sensor without taking the cover off the engine.

    Hope this helps
    Steve
