    Question D2 V8 Auto

    Boys,

Wondering where the filler is for the Automatic Transmission on a D2 1999 V8? I looked underneath with no luck, any pointers?

    Thanks.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave,
The fill point is on the pan, just up & around from the drain point.
It is on the front facing side of the pan & is a hex nut from memory.

The filler is on the front of the tranny pan. This is also the level plug. Level is checked with engine running ,tranny warm & in park after running through the gears.

This page may help, but I really suggest you buy a rave CD from the markets section of this site (Sales help keep the site going)

When was the last time the fluid was renewed?

    Are you the original owner?

I replace my fluid every 20,000 kms just to be on the safe side.
Dexron III or IV will do the trick, Castrol Transmax Z fully synthetic if you want the best stuff....

    Thanks Lads,

Thought I would check before unbolting things and hoping for the best. No problems, just wanted to check level. Will have auto serviced soon, oil changed 10k ago but I'm guessing it's the wrong stuff as the diff oils had limited slip stinky stuff in them. I replaced it with Penrite Euro stuff and some Nulon gear additive, nice and quiet now.

Rave CD, might be the go - I purchased a crap cd off ebay, tells me bugger all.

I appreciate all of the replys. Off to check the levels.

    Dave.

Depends what sort of vehicle useage. If you were always towing a heavy trailer I would say a 20 000km change interval would be perfectly acceptable.

Many people think that sexual analogies work, but that is a large misconception (pun). By that logic, one could practice abstinence and never service the autobox...
