The brake warning light on the Fender has developed an annoying habit of flickering on occasionally. I checked the brake fluid level, as in the previous Disco 1 I recall low level sent it a flickering. No probs in that area. Hand brake checked and fully off. Not sure about the pads ... or even if they'll set it off when a tad thin ?? To be checked next weekend. Any other ideas?
Only happens from time to time. A bit like the old 3 amigos ...

I've had the flickers when it looked like the reservoir was full. A tiny top up and the light was gone.
Have you replaced the brake fluid recently? Could you be losing just a little bit?

it could also be the brake pressure differential switch if it only does it while youre braking.

I have an inkling it is more wont to occur when the brake in applied .... but then again ... perhaps not always.
I'll have to take more notice ... won't I ...

theres 3 "switches" that can turn on the brake warning lights.
1. the pad wear sensor if the pads are worn down this makes to earth and turns the light on when the pads are first low as they rattle onto the rotor the light will flicker
2. low fluild level, if the fluid level is low this one comes on to tell you about it, if the brakefluid gets into it can cause intermittant shorts that flicker the lights.
3. Pressure differential switch, this one comes on when you have a failure on one set of brakes and can fail in about the same way as the low fluid level.

sorry mate missed it the first time around...
if you look on the brake master cylinder on the side of it there is a plug with 2 wires hanging out of it. (its on the metal bit in front of the booster not the one on top of the reservior)
from memory it should be on the same side of and out past the front of the clutch master cylinder and is easy to remove.

Try adding just a bit of brake fluid, it may be that when you brake the level in the reservoir drops just a fraction to allow the light on. Mine used to do it most when going down hills and the fluid moved forward. (Defender)
