    Quick autobox q

    Hi all,

    Probably a silly q but in low range, does the D1 4HP22 lock up in 4th or not?

    Not sure in the D1. The D2 will lockup in all gears when in low range, and 3/4th only in high range.

    Yes, it doesn't know wether its in Low or High range, the output shaft is still spinning at the same revolutions at the same engine revs in the same gear in low

    I'm not sure.
    In high range the torque converter locks at 81 to 83 kph, and it will "engine brake", down to that speed.

    In low range it appears to have excellent engine braking in all gears.

    The last Mt Mee trip, I could go down steep slopes in low range first gear, no brake or power required. It just idled down (V8 that is).
