and tank i have changed all the fluids when i did the rotors and pads
Did your front calipers have 3 bleed nipples like mine, if they do and they weren't bled, like mine weren't, then you will have old fluid in the top inside piston and the outside pistons, Regards Frank.

Mick I have brand new defender callipers sitting in the shed that I am not going to use/planning to sell at a later date.

They are to suit vented disks.

If you get stuck, gimme a call.

    Dave.

    Thanks Dave

Mine are vented and I have the 3 nipple ABS Master

Fluid has been changed and bleed properly

The old pads and Discs passed a RWC

    Speed = 37.5Kmh
    Stopping Dist = 9.4Mtr
    Decel Avg = .59G
    Decel Max = .79G
    Time = 1.80 Sec
    Pedal Effoer = 128N

    Go Figure

I have a GForce mtr from the old days of Rice burners and i can get .65 ish on the old pads and dics and on the new ones i am pushing .75 + but i know it might be a little less sensitive then the engineers equipment I know the new pads and discs are better but is the engineer asking too much from this braking system?

can someone with a S1 Disco in NSW pls post brake test info i don't car if std or modified

    Mick

Mick, do you have standard length brake hoses? If longer ones have been fitted and are not stainless/braided then poor braking will result, (although I'm sure you wouldve thought of that...)
When you say ABS master cyl, is that D1 ABS?

I would say that the figures they are asking you to achieve are a bit much, unless they have given your vehicle a weigh in and re calced from the ACTUAL tare weight?

    Or did I miss something?

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Brake line have been extended but the hoses stay the same

    D1 ABS Master

and yes it going to get given new tare wight and maybe a new vin number.

I am going away with work for a few days so keep the ideas coming.... i don't think the caravan park in Wodonga will have an internet cafe

41.3mm pistons in the rangie/disco calipers, 46mm in some defender calipers. I put the relevant model years up on outerlimits I think a while back.
That's 25% bigger. But if you're locking up the front brakes, that won't help.

I'd be looking at the rear proportioning valve. Bypass it and it'll put more pressure to the rear lines. When you're locking all four at about the same time I'd be happy.

OK here's my ignorance showing here, how does a bigger piston in the caliper make the brake more effective. The way I am looking at it is that the piston is pushing on the brake pad, which is a solid object, so as long as pressure is being applied by two pistons to equlise the pressure along the length of the pad your going to get the same amount of friction from the pad on the disk?

Bigger pistons = more clamping force.
Friction is roughly proportional to clamping force.
More pressure on the brake pads = harder stopping or less pedal force (driver chooses which).

One question that no one has asked.
How is your booster and your vacuum lines?
Any vacuum leaks could mean a harder pedal.
    A rebuild may help.
Softer pads may help for the test. Get the softest grabbiest available.

just get rid of the proportioning valve and hook up your unused /blocked up port in your abs master cylinder to the rear brakes, and the other 2 ports to one wheel each, exactly the same as a defender has.
