    d2 shuttle valve

ive had the 3 amigos as constant companions in my 02 d2 td5. i had the codes read and reset and the faults are rhf sensor and shuttle valve failure.

after being reset the car was good for about 30kms until i had to brake hard enough to make the pads squeal. at that exact moment the lights came back on and wouldnt reset, even after i stopped within 30seconds and then restarted the car.

ive changed the rhf sensor and it hasnt fixed the problem. triumph rover spares wont sell me just the shuttle vale kit, as they say, without question that this wont fix the shuttle valve fault.

does anyone kow of any other places in adelaide(not direct dealers) that i can get this kit from. its covered under the 3month used car warranty, no matter what needs doing, but for the sake of an easy solution i want to try this (cheaper) way before changing the whole module.

also, i went on some off-roadish type tracks on the weekend and i noticed that tc,hdc and abs dont work. i can hear the abs module doing stuff when i brake hard or get into low traction situations, but nothing is happeneing at the wheels.

Do a search on shuttle valve I have fixed two modulators with the shuttle valve fault I bought the kit from British4wd they advertise on this site the kit cost around $110 the part # is SW0500030.
here is a couple of links to check out
    shuttle valve switch has arrived

There is a couple of links on the test prodcedures in the top link.

The second modulator I did the switch was faulty water had got in and corroded the switch contacts here is the link for that one below.
    another abs modulator fault found

pins 6 and nine are the pins to put the multimeter on to see if it is open circuit but remember that with this fault the lights will stay on even if the fault is intermittent

cheers. i'll look into the electrical side of things myself tomorrow. that price seems pretty good. by the sounds of it, the shuttle valve kit was all you needed in that instance then? how long has it been since?

I've had the three amigos over my ownership of a D2 (2000). First was the front LHS sensor, intermittant indication. The twisted wire had become damaged at the wheel arch grommet. With a multi-metre on the sensor, you could detect the open circuit when moving the harness.

Very soon after, the fault returned, this time the shuttle valve was identified as faulty. With much trepidation, I got the shuttle valve kit installed. All was good for 6 months until the RHS sensor went. Again at the grommet point and just at the start of the Flinders sky trek decent, so no hill decent control for the rest of the trip.

That's all over 12 months ago, no problems since.

Thats probably the prob. Some D2 sensors are sensitive to noise. I had one that would react to the noise from my springs dislocating. You can get material for the back of the pads to prevent noise.
    Cheers

what material is that slunnie? i forget the brand, but the pads are aftermarket, so i understand that can cause the squealing. rear rotors are 100% and pads 90%. on front pads are 90% but rotors have a 1mm lip on them. it only seems to be the fronts that squeal. the squeal is at that annoying braking pressure, not when i'm braking hard or gently, but just inbetween!

back tothe point though, that material and where to get it from would be great. for reference, i live 2mins from triumph rover, if you think they'll have it.

    cheers.
