Rotating Range Rover classic steering box

    Hi guys

Is anyone an expert on the Range Rover classic steering box?

My question is about using a RR power steering box on a Land Rover Series 2B Forward Control.

What I am wondering is if the steering box can be rotated 90 degrees on its longitudinal axis and about 70 degrees on its lateral axis and still have the hydraulics work correctly?

(i.e. the output shaft that connects to the steering lever/drag link, would be rotated from vertical to horizontal and the horizontal input shaft that connects to the steering column would be rotated up to about 70 degrees from the horizontal plane.)

    Any ideas???

On a 101, a Nissan Patrol steering box is often used. I know this doesn't answer your question but something to consider.

I haven't looked inside one, but I doubt the hydraulics would know or care which way is up.

Any ideas who may have owned the S2b camper and how I could contact them? Or at least pics of the arrangement.

    * The other box you mention, was it in the steering or somewhere else?

There are a few 2Bs with RR coil suspension, but I am concerned about the ability of the Rover diffs to pull the weight of the S2b so am using stage 1 CVs and the ENV diffs, then probably putting the up-rated 3 leaf parabolics on the front.
