    Gearbox for Rangie........

OK, given the events of the weekend (see here) I'm now taking the opportunity to seriously considering a different gearbox for the Rangie as 100km/h with an LT95 = industrial deafness, so any ideas on this? 'm unsure as to what would be best - LT85, LT77 or LT95 with OD. What is going to be the cheapest and hassle free conversion? BTW, I just discovered that my newly purchased Rangie already has a little history on AULRO - see here.

1st choice - Post 97 R380/LT230. then LT77, and then OD if you can find one. or go 31/33 inch tyres.

I had to rebuild the LT77 in my RR at 406,000km. I was given a freebie that I was told required bearings only. But that was just after I'd oredered $2K worth of parts to rebuild the old one.

Anyway, if you want a FREE LT77 that requires a strip and rebuild with bearings, PM me and you can have it.

A lot of noise in an LT95 is often due to failure of the rubber/plastic sleeve on the end of the high/low range selector finger (where it engages the slot in the shift fork).

This sleeve goes missing with age. Pull the finger, push a new piece of oil resistant tube over the end, and a lot of noise will go away.

At this stage, I think I'll be sticking with the LT95. Got some prices today on conversions...and let's say thankfully I was sitting down, 'cos the cost was, in some cases amazing, and that's putting it politely.

What ratio Hi Range have you got in your LT95 ??
Could make a big difference if you change it, simple and fairly cheap

I Think there were the following Ratios

    0.996 Range Rover
    1.113 Range Rover
    1.174 101 Forward Control
    1.3362 Stage 1 and Early 110

Not sure what suffix means what Im sure someone else will chime in and tell us.

A good start would be how many revs @ 100kmh its doing
