    Land Rover Parts Pricing

I was told to check the Land Rover dealers for parts fro my Discovery before going aftermarket or even to wreckers, and some of the price I've gottens have been really surprising:

Rear ladder - OEM $180 - Elsewhere up to $300
    Sun visor - OEM $55 but $160 / pair at a wreckers.

I've heard that Land Rover sometime drops prices of certain items for a month or so, and thing it would be good if we could start a thread to keep people up to date on the latest "bargains" than may come along, for example, last year, the prices of brake discs dropped from over $200 to $40.

Anyone know of any more price drops from Land Rover Australia

That is a very good point and heads up for everone, Iain.

I always check dealer pricing when buying in/ quoting. There was a 50% drop in price of Td5 intank pumps a while back.
And agreed, brake parts are sometimes cheaper genuine than aftermarket

I advise everyone to check OEM prices before buying, sometimes you can get a surprise!

brake parts do seem to be cheap. i was haveing a beer with the local dealers spares man asking about parts wearenty on a leaking hose. and said i also need to do the brakes he said that the defender pads+rotors are cheap as at the moment but knowing i work at a brake shop couldent beat what i pay but retail would be on par with our prices some of there prices have realy shocked me like how cheap filters ect are i wont use anything but genuine now. yet a double liped hub seal was like 20 bucks yet the large seal on the swival ball was about 10 bucks or so just leaves me scratching my head

    Parts

Its mostly supply and demand. You'll find the discounted items have'nt moved for a while so the price is dropped and away they go. Couple of years ago I picked up a brand new TD5 turbo for $580 from LR. Today $1600.

Mind you it depends on the items though. Tried Landrover earlier this year for rear axles to suit 97 Disco, they could only get the right one (smaller one) and wanted around the $800 mark for that. (Of course the one that was broken was the other one), seemed to me like it was to hard for them. Ended up with a diff and axles for about $300 from ebay. (Really wanted Maxidrives though, but couldn't pass up the ebay ones with the joy of Xmas and all)

    Cheers 'mate' .

Some parts are cheaper at dealers but most aren't. At least you know you're getting the genuine article from a dealer though (not sure if that's a good thing though ).

I have a laugh at some of the parts sold on eBay. Some 2nd hand parts go for more than new ones cost from a dealer.

Have a look at eBay item # 290196222380
These clips retail for about $7 each. That's full tilt without even considering trade or similar discount.

5x 2nd hand ones sold for over $53.

    parts prices

Some LR parts are not too bad in price compared to after market.
For instance,Front window regulators at $190 aftermarket are dodgy! more so the the original LR part, which only costs $30 more.
