    Auto conversion

I need your expert opinions on wether to change my man(lt77) over to a zf auto or not.I have no mechanical issues with the lt77 just sick of changing gears. My mechanic isnt interested in doing the conversion(To busy)So it would more than likely be done by myself(Flying blind)in the driveway.I have been told it is very time consuming so do i just sell the zf and spend the money on some other mods or is it worthwhile me doing it.Thanks in advance Brett

As long as you have all the correct parts, it should be easy enough, but will take a lot of time

Of course the easiest way out is to replace it with an auto
Bound to be some rev head itching for a manual, around.

    Cheers,

Just think.....Dash out to change the pedal box.....All front interior out to change the consul and to set up the shifter......heaps of little fiddly things to do like kick down cable and trans oil cooler and lines.....Exaust off to remove the LT77 and lift the ZF in.

Nah not too much to do, nice easy job, should be finnished in about Half and hour or so...........

I would prefer to go buy another Disco V8 already in auto before I would do a conversion as they are damn cheap these days and you could just spend the time shifting bits over to the new one.

You probably know this already but it wont work on your TD5, you need a TDI box

I'd put it on Ebay, you should get $100 for it if not a bit more but as you cant show the buyer that it works ok, you probably wont get much unless you have reciepts for a rebuild.

As long is it is not the ECU model then swap the bellhousing and torque converter and it should fit.

Will fit but wont work too well due to valving, and gearing differences with the V8 and TDI versions as well as it wont last long as the V8 trans (apparently) dont like the vibrations either.

Like I said, you want a TDI version.
