ABS/TC pump doing its initial start up check. Normal-ish but there seems to be a vast difference in the amount of noise it makes between different rovers.
My D2 2003/2004 has this peculiar trait with the brake pedal.
When starting the engine, if my foot is on the brake, there is a destinct crunching coming thru the pedal. It feels similar to trying to change gears in a manual with the clutch only half depressed.
No -I dont have my foot on the clutch, its an auto.
Even if I dont have my foot on the brake, the crunching sound can still be heard.
I have only had the car 6 days, so if there is an issue, then I am sure the dealer will be more than willing to fix it, but I just thought I would ask the assembled brains trust.
Cheers.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
if u have used car warranty and u dont ind the hassle of being without it for a few hours/day, then you might as well. but i think it will just be that your car has a noisy abs system. mine is a bit noisy too(02 td5 d2), as was my ba falcon.
Cheers,
Thanks for that.
It is quite normal - as was said just the ABS system doing its start up check - is more obvious when you have your foot on the brake when starting.
It is the same sound and feel you would get when driving and had to brake heavily enough for the ABS to kick in.
Don't worry about it.
