    Making dodgy Aircon More Efficient

Hey there Team, am going about ways to make my aircon a bit more effiecient and am going to fit an aircon blower fan (as crazy as it is it doesn't have one). Just wondering if anyone knows if you can buy one to fit a fender radiator properly or should i just go down to supercheap and buy one off the shelf??
    any ideas??

Do you actualy use the back seat for passengers???
In My D2 I have a piece of that clear plastic used in roll up blinds fitted to the cargo barrier. My D2 is black so gets pretty hot when parked. The climate control is very good, but now only has to deal with the front/rear seats rather than the whole cab.Cools much quicker!!!
You could do similar behind your front seats if the rears dont get used.

Yeah the boy sits in the back, and being 8 and starting to have an attitude, i don't think he will like me walling him off the in the back so me and his mother can be nice and cool in the front. good idea when he gets cheaky though

I assume you are talking about the condenser fan

Realistically I would go to a wreckers and either get one big fan (the biggest you can get that will fit) or two smaller ones if fitting them is easier.

But yes the other alternative would be supercheap - and again get the biggest (ie most cfm ) you can get to fit.

I would not bother with OE from Land Rover - as the price is very high - and basically its a electric fan

Just make sure the fan is either reversable or blows in the right direction - I have seen a few where they were **** about face.

Do you want a wiring diagram to wire it/them up ?

Being a little contraversial here - after you fit the fans you could always change the R134a gas to HC refrigerants - and really improve the system.

The Oz fit condenser fan is just a Davies Craig 10" fan that runs all the time with the A/C.
I wouldn't bother, it's next to useless and reduces airflow through the radiator at speed. If you were going to fit a supplementary fan, do as Ladas suggests and jam the biggest sucker you can in there or two smaller ones.
To work out which would be the more efficient option, check out the air flow figures for a large single vs two smaller ones. Davies Craig should have them on their website.

I've gone through the procedure of fitting and removing mine during summer and I lowered engine coolant temps by removing it. This could change at slow crawling speeds.

    Hey Ladas
nothing controversial there - HC = less refrigerant, lower head pressure (uses less power) and better refrigerant properties.

Ok so it is explosive, first we have to look at the calorific value of it in relation to the volume in the average car A/C system, then the fact that it is only combustable between about 2 and 9.7% Secondly if it was going to go up then I think that would be the least of your worries.

I believe it is a witch hunt by Dupont against refrigerants that they dont have the copyright to.

Natural refrigerants are the go IMHO

Just in the embrionc stages of getting a professional refrigeration association going up here in the NT

Natural refrigerants will be represented in it
