Try unplugging the glow plug relay and see if it goes out.

200 n 300Tdi glow plug relays have a timer circuit built within the relay. so the timer circuit could be stuffed and keeping the light on. the light wont last much longer id say. there must be alot of current going through that FAT wire haha.

yeah , I thought that might be the case , the Relay Timer not switching off after a while when the glow plug wiring stays alive with engine running for a while ,I checked fuse for the glow plug cct ,that was fine, could it be one of the glow plugs could be stuffed ??

yes thats what i think it would be and when one is stuffed all the currents are going through the other so id say it will go soon aswell.

Sorry, that's not how it works. If the plugs are in series and one fails, no current will flow (I think the early Series Landies had this configuration).

If they are in parallel, and one fails, it makes no difference to the others.

I don't have a D1 wiring diagram here with me to check.

Nope... they are in Parallel... the wire loops from the 1st one to the 2nd then the 3rd then the 4th... and that is the 12v from the relay and they just earth like a spark plug...

I would try pulling the glow plug fuse, then see if it goes out, if so, then pull the timer relay, if that works then it must be the timer relay....

Having the glow plugs on when it runs will kill them in no time...

check to see if there is 12v on the wire connection on the top of the glow plugs when its running.. if not then at least your not killing them...

they are not that dear if you buy them from paddocks or so forth... LR are a killer on price...

the glow plugs in the 300 are the same as in the 200 as well....

    ok

glow Plug fuse removed , Light stays on
    Relay removed light stays on

engine won't start without the fuse does fault finding sound okay so far?

the factory alarm won't activate now however the central locking works fine from the drivers door , I must have touched another fuse in the factory alarmcct when playing around with the fuse box and/or disconnecting and re-conecting relays , or may be when accidentally disconnected the ignition cct relay ?

too dark to see anthing now..will continue fault finding in am, I'm still convinced one of the glow plugs is stuffed?

but why would't the car start without 10A Glow plug fuse out, mmmm. ?
