tyre shops cant put a spahgetti fix in (the stringy stuff with goop on it) they can use the push in plugs or the plugs that go in from the inside.

They can also vulcanise, rebond and more frequently glue bond a patch on depending on how they are setup.

they may not repair a tyre that has a damaged sidewall ply, fractured bead, exposed + fractured steel threads (or canvas) they should not repair a tyre that is under the legal tread depth if it is to be fitted to a road going vehicle (including restricted registrations) but they can recap one or regrove it if the tyre is marked as being suitable for doing this AND they are equiped to do it correctly.

Fracture damage to the inside of the tyre is not to be repaied but blistering, providing it is not full depth may be repaired providing that the blistering can be removed prior to patching and does not require the removal of the rubber to the inner most ply

theres more money to be made in repairing tyres than there is in selling and fiting but with the insurance overheads in todays legislative laywer breeding sue em for all their worth american society we're developing its normally not worth the hassle for a smaller vehicle.
