i went bush today and every now and then when i hit some corrugations at speed the indicator light would light up on the dash.... i got out and had a look and all 4 corners were flashing go figure! I then hit the hazard button and the red light on the dash came on so it wasnt that.... i then turned the ignition on then off and it went a way.... strange! hitsome more corrugations 10 mtr down the road and it all happen again! WTF!! Dose the d1 have an inertia switch? it's the only thing i can think of

I've read that this happens with the inertia switch. It is located on the firewall behind the washer bottle.
Isn't that part of the "spider " problem?

if its the same type of switch as in big red if you give the mounting panel a hit or the switch is loosely mounted when its shakes just right it will trip and turn on the hazards, Im pretty sure its also supposed to shut down the engine if the hit is hard enough.

If you have remote locking /alarm then I am pretty sure the inertia switch is inside the alarm module, which is located behind/above the kick panel on passengers side ( normally a green plastic box about 6 inches by 4 inches. ). It's possible your inertia switch has become "super sensitive". Heard of this happening a couple of times before.
If you can find that box, maybe give it a tap with the handle of a screwdriver and see if it causes the problem you describe.
If the inertia switch is activated, all your hazards will come on and stay on until you turn off the ignition completely. This has happened to me a couple of times but only after going over very big bumps, which is how it should be. The fuel cut off is not activated on the diesels, but I understand it is on the petrol models. This is probably because of the lower flammability hazard of diesel.
That explains why my hazard lights started flashing after hitting a sharp rise at speed in the dunes at Robe.
