If it was taken from the outlet side of the turbo (pre aftercooler and thusly major restriction in the intake system.) You would have excess fuel.

We covered this pretty clearly ten years ago when i completed my apprenticship as a diesel mechanic. I dont want to get involved in pedantics or overly simplistic explainations of how a diesel engine works but if you would like to illustrate the point to your self go and buy a cheap boost gauge and fit it to the manifold and compare the difference in boost. 2-3psi may not seem like a lot but as far as the fuel pump is comcered t has a major effect on performance.

I think we should agree to disagree on this one.

I agree with you on that Luke :D , that's the beauty of these Public forums & I quite enjyed the discussion thou ,so boost pressure supply is not from outlet of Turbo it's from outlet of Intercooler supplied from the output of wastegate actuator we're talking about the same thing ,ah geez so excessive boost pressure is wastegated from intake side. :confused:

am I right /wrong ?

okay may be you're right , that is the ideal place then .:D:D

but my Intercooler has a super dooper exotic Metals that adds extra pressure inside the intercooler 1-2 Psi, :D

As i said in my first post in this thread. The ideal place to also take the wastegate pressure sensing line from is also the intake manifold. this ensures the engine will recieve full wastegate pressure to the manifold. Not wastegate pressure minus cooler/intake restriction.

ok got it all working i thoiught i had wired everything up last week but i was wrong so thats why the EMS wasnt working it was getting NO signal ;)

anyway full boost is 10psi at the manifold is this about right? I am going to make up a T peace so i can fit the sender to the turbo also next week and see what the difference really is on my motor.

I have mine tee'd into the pressure line at the injector pump, at full boost i'm getting 20 PSI and i'm very happy with the power :D

the boost compensator line comes directly off the turbo outlet on a 300Tdi and any Land Rover boost pressures mentioned in publications are referenced from this spot.

factory boost at the turbo outlet is 1 to 1.1 bar. I doubt you'd get 5 psi pressure drop across the IC. If it is, the IC is pretty restrictive.

Thanks Rick, That's what I thought , this is where I have tapped off my VDO Boost Gauge ?On the output of Turbo , and I doubt very stronly that there is any more that 1-2 Psi drop in Pressume accross the Plumbing and I/C if Evreything is intact and there should be nothing inside the intercooler blocking it.:)

me too, I just drilled and brazed a fitting onto the tee there years ago as it was the easiest spot to access, although there is a BSP plug on the firewall end of the manifold if you feel the need to take it off there.
