Numbers for parts
didn't know exactly what to call this.
I am new to Land/Range Rovers and reading these threads can be confusing when talking about driveline components as I don't know what all the components are, ie I know a LT230 is a transfer case, LT98 a 4 speed gearbox.
Can anyone post a list of all components and what they are?
Hope you can understand what I am after.

Buy a Workshop manual on CD from the forum (Click on the word markets in the top toolbar, then cd rom manuals ). That should give you a better idea on what is what on your particular vehicle.
A summary of Landrover history in making different driveline bits is a little too involved. Since there are Landrovers in every part of the world, a google search or wikipedia search on anything you haven't yet got a handle on is a good idea, as there are heaps of articles on what's what - works for me, and I got my first LR in the 80's
ps the 4 speed is actually called the lt95
