V8 gurus help on rollers and valve springs?

ok so putting a 4.4V8/ZF auto in my 90 at the moment, and working out with my mechanic what combo to use.

my mechanic says to save the coin and go after market steel rockers and standard valve springs as i can always upgrade later, he normally uses stiff dual springs and roller rockers

running a cam with a lowish lift - .45? lift

running the the standard springs and cheaper rockers will save over $1K

now since i'm a landscaper not a mechanic what are your opinions?

    cheers

depends on if your trying to save the dollars the standard springs and rockers will deal with what your setting up but not for gargantuan rpms nor forever.

If you can afford it go with the stronger setup but changing them over later isnt a herculean tasking so its not a big financial loss to run the softer gear till it gives up and then put in the better stuff. Its also not going to fail tomorrow if you use the softer gear.
