Bilstein Shocks
Thought I'd try to widen the search for answers as per this thread:
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery/...on-prices.html
Can anyone tell me the difference between:
1) F4-B46-0255 that the Aussie websites quote,
2) BE5-2779-H0 that the US sites seem to have in stock, &
3) BNE 6119 from the UK
Allegedly they're all for the rear of a 95-99 Disco? Surely there's someone here who's ordered Bilsteins from www.truckspring.com or www.eshocks.com who might be able to shed some light on the subject? I've found a great price on ebay for a set from the US:
eBay Motors: BILSTEIN SHOCKS LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 4WD 94 95 96 97 98 (item 200209556050 end time Jun-18-08 21:12:17 PDT)
Just waiting for confirmation of the above models & a shipping quote from them.....
This is driving me nuts
, I just want to order some and be done with it. So very confusing!

Give Bilstein - KYB - Rancho - Monroe - Edelbrock Automotive Truck Shocks and Struts - Shockwarehouse.com a try as well, they were very quick with shipping prices etc (US$110) I had a full set of shocks and steering damper on my doorstep 9 days after ordering for A$540 a couple of months ago.

The B46-0253 is what I've always had listed for the rear of a D1 and is heavy duty (fairly stiff) valving. This is for Disco's to the 5/95
The BNE 6119 is standard (soft or comfort) valving, 6/95-99
BE5-2779 I have listed for the rear of Defender 110's from 99 on ?
It'll fit a DI OK, but be pretty stiff in the valving.<edit> actually, it might not be that different to the B46-0253, best talk to either Heasmans or Quadrant about the differences

http://www.eshocks.com has similar prices to the site that Bushie linked to.
There are more options if you use eye to pin adaptors.
Most bilsteins listed have 2 or 3 stock damper options.
Pasted from eshocks.com: Bilstein Off-Road Shock Guide
Understanding Bilstein Valve Ratings
Damping forces of Bilstein valvings for Off-Road are measured in Newtons at a velocity of 0.52 meters/seconds (approximately 20 inches/second). The ratings shown correspond to those measurements; rebound force is the first number, followed by compression force (rebound / compression). Conventionally, the ratings are written as one tenth the damping force in Newtons.
EXAMPLE: Valve rating: 275 / 78
Rebound force is 2750 Newtons at 0.52 m/s
Compression force is 780 Newtons at 0.52 m/s Higher numbers mean higher (firmer) damping forces. For example, 360/80 has more control (is firmer) that 275/78, while 170/60 has less control (is softer) than 275/78.
