the only thing i would say mike... is im not convinced... i'll get him to keep the ECU if he can... see if it works still...
sounds like you have had plenty of fun with yours... mines still waiting for the nanocom.. which by the way if you are in the group buy and need me to pick up then i dont mind.. then i may be able to hunt around and trace whats going on with mine!
could of just needed a hard reset or something... either way at 50k k's i wouldnt expect it!
Thanks
Steve
I'm not sure i've ever heard of ECU's just "dieing" before. Watching with interest too.

Where was he driving at the time, and how...
Has he checked the inertia/impact switch under the bonnet on the fire-wall?
Cheers...
alright, just to update my experience.
Since I roll started my TD5 it has been fine. I reckon there was a glitch in the duel battery system as one was low and the other high (not that that hasnt happened before). When the dash lights flickered like a rave party the engine wouldnt turn over at all. Like I said, once I roll started it and drove it for a while it just came good. Maybe it jolted the computer, maybe it just decided it was time, but its all good now.
As some history. Before mine died I had driven from the Gold Coast to Cape york, across the top over every dirt track available for a period of 5 months. When I got home and parked the car it did go again - I think it was exhausted.
I reckon take the batteries out and replace them and then roll start the beast and rev the guts out of it while swearing at the top of your voice and crossing your fingers........apples.

Hi, I had all the warning lights come on my D2 TD5 a few years back. The problem was corrosion on one of the connectors on the rear of the fuse block inside the cab on the drivers side. No more problems after replacing this whole unit. This fuse unit also has the drivers for the indicators, I think. Strangely however my car still ran with every indicator on - a bit scary. Cheers, Erich
