Fuel Capacity of Series 1 Disco

Not sure if this is the right forum but here's the story.
What is the MAXIMUM amount I could squeeze into a standard tank on a 1998 300tdi Disco?

Reason I ask... I was taking advantage of a 20c fuel discount docket and proceeded to fill the truck and three 20l jerrys.
They allow 150l per docket so I thought I would do that no worries, the light was on but it certainly wasn't bone dry and assumed 80l plus 60l odd for the jerrys equals 140 odd litres.

The pump at this place told me 149.6 litres!
Even at the discount docket price of 162.9 I think I've been done around 5l or $8.

Have I got grounds to complain or have I just squeezed more into the main tank than I have ever done in the 8 years I've owned the thing?

Most I have ever got in is 72 liters. I thought they were 76 or 78 liters. An extra 10 liters is quite a lot.

Max is either 84 or 89 litres - I can always get 21.5 litres into a 20 litre jerry can.

300tdi disco is 89 usable. I fill up when the light comes on too, and whilst it is also generally 80L, sometimes it can be 83L,depending on the weather and stuff. I can squeeze in an extra couple of litres if the fuel doesn't foam too much and the tank is facing downhill. So say the main tank took 85, and the extra 1.5L each jerrycan, theres 149.5

I'm assuming that the 200 is the same as the 300(tank capacity)..

I've actually run-out(when I first got it-the gauge only just went below the 1/4 mark)

How far do you fill it up to...e.g.how long do you stand there dribbling it in for the last 10+ ltrs

I've filled it to halfway up the pipe.I can normally get roughly 60-90 k's extra out of a tank when I do it(depending on how heavy the right foot is

    cheers

From when the orange light comes on to just about to overflow out the filler - I can squeeze 89 litres at some servos, only 85 litres at others. That give me just on 900km range.

    Gazza,
My old 200Tdi Disco handbook used to say early models were 81.8 useable, and later ones were 89 useable. A JA would be 81.8

The size of the Disco's fuel tank is, as already stated, 89 l, which means you will be able to squeeze in another 5 l or so if you brim the tank carefully.
