any improvment on std TDI would make any owner happy it's the room and cost that gets me. mine is ute and i still would have no place to put a 40 or 70l tanks unless i extened my chassis and put a tradesman tray on it. and the cost of fuel these day who needs to fill 2 different types of tanks!

I don't mean the Td5 won't improve it will, what I mean is the Tdi as standard can't match a Td5 but on gas they really get up and go.The most common tank fits next to the chassis rail but I have a second battery there so a 40l tank is going in the back across the tub.I find I have plenty of room in my defender. D-Gas

I've got it fitted to the 300Tdi Defender and must say I don't feel it made much difference at all.
It cost 4 grand and without the 3 rebate I don't feel it would have been worth it.
Plus that awful tank hanging down under the sill looks really bad although it doesn't intrude too much into ground clearance.

Alan, I am very interested in what you wrote. I have also just had the d-gas systen fitted to my 300Tdi and found no noticeable improvement. I 'phoned d-gas and they state that there should be a BIG improvement.

Have you had anyone check your installation? I currently have mine undergoing a check by a different gas fitter - the crowd in Canberra who did mine were pretty slack - coolant leaks, broken bonnet pull, greasy finger marks and coffee cup stains on the guards. Quite apart from the fact that it didn't work......

If you like I will PM you the results after the new lot have had a play with it.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    D-Gas 300 Tdi.

    Hi Paul.
Please let me know if you get real improvement on what you've had done. Mine has nowhere near what I was led to expect or maybe I'm expecting too much!
I'll get back to the installer and get him to give it a check over as soon as I get time to get there.

I've spent too much time having "experts" redo what appears to be shoddy workmanship lately....... the latest "expert" who professes to be of the old school and meticulous in his approach to work, managed to mangle the fan nut by using a pin punch/chisel and big hammer to undo it!!!
He said it was very tight and had never been off but I told him I'd removed it 2 weeks previously with a tap on a spanner in the right direction and he then says I'm telling him how to do his job!!!
Bloody hell, how the hell do we find people who can do what they profess to be able to do when it comes to Landrovers?
I'm not saying the gas installer is of that type as I've seen some of his installation work and it looked great and I'm sure he'll tune it so it does do what they say it will. I'll keep in touch re this.
    Alan.
