    TD5 Power Box Tuning Problem

I have just installed a DieselTorque power box made by Vector Tuning in Germany. My car is a Defender TD5 CSW 1999 model. The power gain is very good with no smoke. It pulls much better on the open road.
The problem is that the engine dies sometimes. It is as if the injectors are switched off one by one untill the car stalls.
I switch off and restart then it runs well again for sometimes a day or two. It seems to happen only in town at low to mid revs. It has never happend on the open road. The engine does not over boost (I have a boost guage fitted). The manufacturer has suggested moving the jumper to a lower setting but that did not help. I had the box exchanged by DieselTorque but that did not help either.
Without the box the engine has never cut out while driving. And no, there is no oil in the wiring harnass or on the ECU plug!
The Box seems to work in another Defender.
Where do I start finding out why my TD5 does not like the Tuning Box?

My first suggestion would be to get the ecu injector codes read and confirm they match the injectors in the engine. If they dont then they wont be working properly to start with - you may not have noticed this under normal conditions.

The plug in boxes simply delay the closing of the injector solenoid so that you dump more fuel into the cylinders. The ecu could be picking up on this via other sensors and cutting fuel back to the point where she stops.

Out of interest why did you buy a plug in box? Much better to get your ecu remapped - a much more refined way of doing things and give you more torque - something which a plug in box cant do...

My other suggestion would be to either sell or get your money back from the plug in box and get a remap! You wouldnt regret that.
    Regards,
    Jon

I cannot remap since my ECU is 1999 model. Had Autologic test my ECU and sensors and it found my airflow meter open circuit. It also found all my injectors open circuit!??? This morning I replaced the injector loom and the airflow meter ($$$$!!). My injector codes are all correct. Wrote them down when I changed the loom. All fault codes now cleared and now I must put the Tuning box back and see what happens.
