G'day
I've spent a fair old bit of time this afternoon with a mate trying to find a sensible location to fit the provent to the Fender.
I started to think about fitting to the back of the air con compressor but its to tight.
Has anyone fitted the device to a TDi 300 Defender yet and if so where are the pics????????
There is 3 fifths of five eights of FA room with Air con and I'm stuffed if I can see how to do it sensibly. I'm about to put it in an airbag n send it back to Ben.![]()

Right hand guard in front of the brake master cylinder if you make up a folded panel like mine (yet to finish the install due to going north) it should fit just nice without being too annoying to remove.

Hi Adrian and Inc - sorry to hear that. You can remove the factoru cyclone and fit it on the side of the engine. I believe a few people have done that???
Won't fit there Ben, it fouls the air cleaner on a Defender.
I'm working on something where I'll mount it on a dedicated bracket between the air cleaner and the A/C compressor and do away with the OE cyclone but it's going to be tight, and I'll have to remove the ProVent to get the air cleaner element out.
In this spot it will be able to pick up the block drain with not too much bother, (new hose) and only a small cut and shut to the hose back to the turbo intake.
Unfortunately haven't been able to spend too much time on it lately.
Ben,
the bottom of the return line fouls the injector lines and either the provent has to come out to get @ the filter or the air filter canister has to be removed and lifted up to be removed. Fitted to the back of the AC compressor it probably the best spot to be. Anywhere else I'd be a bit concerned about slowing the gas flow to much.
I might think about modifying the oil return line with a 45 degree fitting in order to clear the injector lines.
Still not sure but I'll eventually sort something.
Oh and Ditto to what Rick said.
Sorry to hear it is hard to squeeze it in. The defender engine bay really is a bit tight isn't it!!! (finding the same with my county turbo install!!!).
There is no problem in mounting the provent further away from the engine. There will only be a slight increase in pressure drop with the extra pipework (the Provent has a safety valve to protect the engine, which will open and vent to atmosphere if the crankcase pressure becomes too high). The lines can freally be as long as you want, you just have to make sure there are no low spots where oil can pool. i.e. - pipe runs should look like / or \ or /\ BUT DEFINITELY NOT \/ or ~ ( -- is OK but not ideal).
Hope that makes sense??? This goes for all 3 lines.
If you guys find it all too hard to fit it send it my , Im sure ill make it fit in my Defender![]()
Im sorry i missed the free offer, but thats life![]()
I still have a couple of spares - due to a few people pulling out. I need to go back through my PM;s to see who was first and 2nd in the list.
Conversely, if anyone with REALLY high annual kms who can fit it straight away pms me...
