    snorkels

Hi Guys , Just wondering if anyone has bought a snorkel off Snorkels.com.au - 4x4, SUV and 4WD off-road Snorkel kits ? Just wanting to know what they are like and what people think of them ?
Very tempted at the price they are ....

Hi Landy. Haven't bought from these guys but when I bought my D1 this is what is installed.

Can I be honest and say I don't like it in an aesthetic way. Safari looks so much better in my opinion.

Function wise it goes great though.

    Xav

p.s... I should of said I know 2 people who have purchased from this site and were happy. Not L.R. though.

Didn't buy direct from them but bought a new one off a private individual on ebay.

Agree their not the most aesthetic of the snorkels around but function wise are fine.

    Will you fit it yourself?

Having fitted one of these to a D2 then please follow the template - as I found out it is correct!

    Hi Mick,

I bought one of those from E-bay.
If you buy one, don't blindly follow the instructions and template, because it is wrong.
I eventually made parts for it as the bits that came with it were woeful. I bought a "Turbo" hose from supercheap and fitted that, along with water drain connections

    Cheers,

Mick if you have a "Round" tin can air filter with the trumpet on the end, DONT plumb the pipe onto the side of the filter can, it is useless on the side, these filters are designed to breathe from the trumpet end of the canister. Have a look at how I did mine in Gallery under "Tank", buggered if I know how to Post Pics here, used to just copy URL and paste, now it dont work, Regards Frank.

How did you reach that conclusion?
I have one in the side and I have tested it with a Minihelic pressure /vacuum gauge.
There is only about 11 inches of water pressure drop at full throttle in first/second going up a very steep hill, in the whole system between the entry to the MAF and the snorkel.
At cruise I have about a poofteenth positive pressure.
11 inches of water is nothing/nada/mayow/nix.
The only negative I have found is that in heavy rain the filter medium gets damp/wet. I think the same would happen with 180 curve into the front only you may have more pressure drop.
6 one way 1/2 dozen the other.
This assumes the LRA adaptor is used.
    Regards Philip A
