Question 5 speed R380 to Auto

I have searched but can not find a deffinative answer please help

I have a 1994, 300 td1 Turbo/intercooled disco running a 5 speed. In a previous post was advised it was running a r380 box. My question is what auto box will fit up to the engine. Whilst searching forums there is some discussion on boxes but no definate answer, do conversion s include stripping down and mating box to transfer case. Or just getting complete box and transfer if so what is recommended. nothing wrong with current box, just getting lazy. I do not have the money to sell mine and buy an Auto, Anyone want a swap

A ZF auto will bolt straight up just make sure you get an auto for a diesal not from a V8.I looked at changing mine over but it is a lot of work apparently so i opted to stay with the man.

Doable but do your research into the box, flex plate and Torque converter selection.

Ask 51jay he should know all the relevent numbers afterall it took (from vauge memory) 6 attempts at getting the right bits before he got all the right stuff and got it all in and running.

Some of the things that you can get wrong are subtle in nature but can make life difficult later we got lucky and found out because we found something else wrong first.
