Help, In Alice with D2 td5 running hot

Hi all, Just got into Alice Springs today after driving most of to day from Fink ina dust storm, 30 deg c heat and soft sand.
The temp gauge was sitting between normal and the bottom of the red zone. when at this point the air con would cut out.
Anyway to cut along story short. I need to find someone in Alice who can pressure test my Disco.
    Peter.

    Hi Zute.
Normally the TD5 temp gauge ONLY reads at the middle unless its overheated and too late.
Run the vehicle with the climate control switched off.See if the electric booster fan in front of the radiator is running.
If it is the ECU has registered overheating and is protecting the engine,it will remain till the fault is cleared.
You are in luck,we have an esteemed member in Alice that fixes Landys for a living.
Im sure he will be onto this real quick

I would go and talk to Neil at Sutton Motors he will give you the advice that you need.
This is where I would go, if things get serious and you have a cooling issue go and see Keith Maskell just up the road he advised Land Rover on thier radiator design ( I might add that they ignored him to thier folly ) Neil wil tell you where he is if he is still trading ( I left Alice 12 Months ago )

    Hi Zute
    Djam also makes a point.
The strange thermostat bypass these D2s have may have a bearing on you.The motor needs to be operating at over 1500rpm to open the relief valve to fully open the circuit(CORRECT ME IF I HAVE IT WRONG FELLOW BRAINS TRUSTS!!!)
If you are going slow and doing it tough you may be copping overheating from the above.
GOODLUCK,there is good AULRO help in the Alice

Sutton motors helped me the other week, only thing is they are booked solid at present and would have to squeeze you in.

The other thing to consider is you've vlogged the vooling vanes with dust and may need to just clean it all out. Mine was going to need this, but that was the least of its problems when I got it back to Suttons in Alice

Send BigJon a PM not sure if he is still in town but he may be able to help if suttons cant get you in to have a look. I would help but don't know enough about the cooling side.
On that dust storm you should have been at the airport, was pretty specky watching the 737's emerging fromt the dust in about 50m visability. cant be doing the low mount engines any good.

mmm in the mean time have you checked you rad is clear and clean. After all if you are in Alice and says you live in ACT . How did you get there. make sure you rad is not full of dead flies , easy to do out there. Take the front grill off and blast with a jet wash (carfully don't want to punch a hole in the rad with it )
