Thread: td5 100K service

I would do the following, but I cant find the actual list at the moment.


change:

Engine oil.
Both engine oil filters
Change brake fluid.
fuel filter
air filter.
coolant change
Gearbox oil.
Tranfer box oil
Fuel filter
Diff oils.

top up

PAS Fluid
screen wash

Other

Grease propshafts
check stuff like wiper blades and so on
check serpentine belt condition.
tyre pressures

also .........check disc pads & rotors
hoses....all of them,there is one behind the turbo which is hard to see
make sure all hoses are not rubbing on any thing
check tightness of suspension components& while under car look for any fluid leaks

W/shp manual says from memory..
Oil
Centrifugal filter
Air filter
Check & top up all other levels.
Obviously check other components of vehicle.

the 100K service is pretty much Every thing that moves or has fluid, grease or air in it getting checked/changed

all oils engine, power steer, brake, clutch, trans, tcase, front+rear diffs. check and top up the steering ball grease/oil
all filters
pull the hubs down, inspect and repack the wheel bearings change the spacer shims if needed
check the rotors
check the pads
replace the UJ's and donuts (not in the book but I do them anyway)
inspect the suspension bushes and if ones shot replace all bushes relevent to that axle
inspect the Tie rod ends
inspect/adjust the Swivel pin preload
change the serpentine belt (I also did the idler pullies while I was at it)
drain/flush/topup the coolnig system
replace all the cooling system hoses while your at it (they have an average life of 5 years regardless of KMS)
service/inspect the turbocharger+wastegate actuator
inspect camshaft, valve springs+collets and the timing chain
retension all manifold bolts and other engine fixings. (NOT THE HEADBOLTS)
inspect+tension all chassis fittings
inspect+tension all body fittings
inspect/clean all electrical earth connections
reaim the headlights
inspect/repair all seat fittings and seatbelts
inspect/repair/lubricate/adjust all door latching and locking mechanism
replace window seals and door seals as required
rotate the tyres
inspect/repair exhaust fittings + exhaust
check/replenish the aircon gas and pressures
battery load test
check and adjust gearbox linkages
check and adjust the handbrake
Inspect the chassis for damage (crush cans, tow hitch fittings)


thats a bit hit and miss but its about everything I check on a 100K Km service
theres some things that I havent mentioned like fixing leaks, changing shockies over and conducting a road test but that should give you an idea.

Done properly the 100K Km service should take 1 man 3 days to do properly or if you want the quicky Mk1 eyeball and change the easy stuff about a full 8 hour day going flat out the whole time.

Every 40K is the major interval, and as Sniegy said, 100K is usually a minor one. We flush the ABS system etc every 20K, so we do this at a 100K service.
We'll sometimes do a wheel bearing service (Not D2) at 100K, if it hasn't been done at 80K.
