I think he's been through the mill
Anyone installed one of these Powerchips, or any other performance chip.
I was going to go for a Unichip, but it is "Programmable" and I'd prefer not to have "problematic" in the outback.
The Powerchip, on paper, looks good and is half the cost of Unichip, at $1,000 fitted. The torque gain of 30Nm @ 2,000rpm and 36Nm @ 3,000rpm looks "usable".
Cheers,
Ron

I'm visiting Graeme Cooper in the morning for a Haltech chip installation - will let you know how it goes... (rubs hands together)
on the same note has anyone in melb chipped there 3.9, i would like to get it done if poss
Chipped mine...
Waste of time... And Money...
Go programmable ecu..
BTW, Powerchips are EPROM, so are one time "programmable"![]()
Not according to your web site!
"PERFORMANCE FIGURES FOR THE CHIP UP-GRADE AND SERIAL TUNING
With this POWER CHIP you can expect at least 30% MORE POWER And 7-10% GAIN on fuel economy.
This could bring the stock Defender from 126bhp to around 170+bhp.
And the stock Discovery from 136bhp to around 175+ bhp.
Even MORE Power can be gained if you have a TRT intercooler fitted.
This chip will help to improve flat spots / fuel economy / torque / power and drivability.
This chip is a must for the caravaner or offroader or those who just generally just want more power.
These chips or downloads will TOTALLY transform your vehicle ."

Hi Lavis Lane,
I'm looking at the same mod from Graeme Cooper for my V8, so I'm interested in your feedback.
Hi Black Betty,
I had my Disco MY03 4.0V8 ECU upgraded with a Haltech unit from Graeme Cooper 2 weeks ago and have notice a huge improvement in performace. The beuty of the Haltech unit is it does not replace the OEM ECU but works in conjunction with this unti and is fully programmable via a DB9 cable to any laptop. Look at some of my comments from a couple of week ago and you will see the performace stats of my Disco before and after the chip addition.
Even though I have more power, at this stage I don't think my fuel economy has changed a great deal (only done 350K's) but I will be watching my consumption closely over the following months to determin the outcome. It is noce having the extra power though!!!!!!!
P.S. - Graeme Cooper ONLY do the Haltech. They are no longer distributors for the UniChip brand .
Hope this helps
Cheers,
Glenn
Ahh. Thats for the TD5...
For the V8, its a waste of time...
With a V8 if you want more, you need to do a Cam, Head work etc... and then an aftermarket ECU...
A TD5 on the other hand (and TDV6) has so much scope for improvement in fuelling and timing that the benefits are easily seen.
