Thread: help never done this before

just bought a 89 rangie 3,5ltr with sprintex super charger, was stalling so filled up with fresh fuel and injector cleaner & think I have trashed the fuel pump as first it was hunting up to 1500 rpm then stalling then ran fine for appro 80k then would not start at all after sitting overnight kicks but no run. I heard you don't need to use the standard fuel pump it is an in tank can anyone let me know what is the option. cheers KEG

Seeing you have a 3.5 with a supercharger , the injection would have to be played with extensively to work.
So it is quite difficult for anyone on here to be too prescriptive in trying ot help.
To check whether the fuel pump works, turn on the ignition and listen. you should hear the fuel pump go for 3 seconds, the a click as the relay cuts out. No noise no pump.
You may have just flooded it.
One area that causes problems in aftermarket bits is the fuel pressure regulator. If it has a Malpassi fitted , they are a bit notorious for failure.
To get a 3.5 injection to work with a supercharger is no mean feat, so you must expect lots of quirks like not starting.LOL If it is an aftermarket injection well good luck.
To answer your question, yes it is possible to fit an external pump , but really there is no need. A Commodore pump usually fits in the tank fitting depending on your setup, and they have plenty of capacity. A Bosch is $106 wheras most external pumps are quite a bit more.
