Thank for everyones input. Yes Iv been told very hard to do!QLD.is very hard to deal with on this issue.As for risking it all well just cant seem to swallow that.... may just have to deal with running with 2-3 inch and 35 rubber and see how things go.35" rubber on that long of a wheel base does not look out of place....locked up with my new maxi axles and still will have to go around most thing that a shorty with 35"rubber is hitting.... OH WELL, we live and we learn!!!! YES a duramax full chevy set up would be nice!!!!! And yes a portal set up would be nice!!!! but as i am not rich maybe next time....

thats what im thinking

to do a suspension lift properly you need to look at springs, shocks, shock MOUNTS! front castor(can have swivel balls sloted and rotated, best way to go) front drive shaft(maybe go to a double carden like on disco II's)

no matter what engineering you have in QLD if you get pulled over and it doesnt meet the rules they can have your ****!

if you limit your up travel you can start to stuff bigger tyers in buy not much bigger, also rember the bigger the tyre the more offset you need to clear steering etc, so this will load up those components more, and expose all your brakes etc.... go for a true 2 1/2 inch lift that is well sorted, you should get away with this, run 35's when you play.... you will have a good road driving vehicle that should keep up with those patrols etc....

IMO the superswamper Q78 is a great tyre, but i like em skinny!!! theres lots of pro's to a skinny tyre, but the masses wont have it :rolleyes:

ur right but a 3 inch would give more clearance .i have a 2 inch and run 35 but had to trim the flares alot ..ps i like ur rear shock mounts i just welded the top pin to the chassis seems to do the job

Won't be long before all those mates in Patrol's will be down sizing. They're hitting them pretty hard in Brisbane now a few of the 4x4 stores are saying how they ripping off these lifts and putting them back to 50mm lifts as customers are getting pinged more and more. 50 mm and 33' is enough the only reason it isn't enough in places is because moron's driving oversized tyres with dangerous lifts on vehicles and ripping up the tracks. These are the ones responsible for the continuing shutdown of Forestry tracks:mad: and i would love to see more fines dished out to them. Just the other day we went thru Glass house mountains and it was crawling with ridiculously tyred and lifted vehicles and we went thru much the same tracks as they did. My vehicle only has 245/70r16(30) and only got stuck once and didn't have enough ramp over once another discovery that had 245/75r16 mtr's and rear locker got thru both these obstacles. So if 33's aren't enough you should ask yourself should you be driving there in the first place or has your dickhead mate with 38's just stuffed up the track for everyone else with his lack of driving skill. Pluss 35's are for comp vehicles not road vehicles.

i would pay to see your little 245s go where my 35s go but i do agree big lifts and big tires should be taken off the road i only use my 35s when going off road

Keep in mind that whatever mods you do to your vehicle, if they are illegal and you have a prang (say, run up the back of a Bugatti Veyron...) then your insurance will leave you high and dry as your vehicle was "unroadworthy".

Do you really want to be paying out of your own pocket to repair or replace someone elses car? It may be an old Corolla you hit, or it may not be. If it is a high end Merc, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari... Range Rover... or heaven forbid the Veyron mentioned above, you will paying for it for the rest of your life,\ and your estate and life insurance will continue to pay it off after you are dead.

Would you rather challenge your vehicle and yourself on tracks within your limitations, or catch the bus for the rest of your life because you can't afford to own a car of your own because you are paying for someone elses?
